The Responsibility of the Homeowner in a Water Loss.

10/14/2016 (Permalink)

It seems obvious, but the absolute first thing you do when encountering a pipe burst and water pouring through your home is to turn off the water. You need to have at your disposal a water meter wrench (you can get one for less than $20.00 from your local hardware or Big Box store). Some houses and most commercial properties have a main water shut off valve inside the house, but most do not, and it is important to train everyone from teenagers to seniors how to use the wrench to cut off your water meter. The difference between a 500 gallon water loss and a 5,000 gallon water loss can be enormous. Next call us, SERVPRO® of Phoenix at 480-503-2090, 24/7 365, and your insurance agent. We can refer a competent plumber to repair any damage to water pipes. If you call a plumber first, beware of those who offer to have “someone they trust” come to remove the water and dry the house. Make sure they have all of the proper certifications.   Our goal is to return your house to pre-loss condition as affordably as possible. Just remember this: We are….faster to any disaster!
